Q: how much should I pay for the 2008 Acura MDX (base) model. out of the door.?
I am going to buy the 2008 Acura MDX base model. how much should I pay for out of the door?
A: that all depends on where in the world you are , shipping comes in play in the cost, and taxes plus , plus, hope you get a good deal for you
Q: Is this a good deal? for a 2009 new acura mdx base with msrp of $41800 for $36200 or can i go lower?
A: Invoice in my area is $37,252. Don’t know where you are but it seems like a good buy.
Q: Does anyone own a base Acura MDX w/o Tech pkg?
Does the radio sound okay w/o the tech package or does it sound cheap? Thanks
A: I have the 2007 base MDX, and the audio quality is ok. The sound system is made by Panasonic, so its not the best. The difference between the base and tech pkg is that the tech pkg adds on 2 satellite speakers. It won’t make much of a difference.
I personally like good sound, and this will need some work. Compared to other stereos, it sounds good, getting good highs and lows. The volume doesnt get too high, but it sounds clear when cranked up, so thats a plus.
Anyone would say it sounds good, and it already has a subwoofer, so it feels more complete. Once again, its not a bad system, but I just got used to the Harman/Kardon stereo system in my BMW and the $3,000 Alpine system in my VW.
Q: 2005 acura mdx touring vs normal base model?????
what are all of the differences? also do base models recive the bose stereo?
thanks alot
A: The wheels in the touring are different, the tires are Michelin instead of Bridgestone, you get a roof rack in the Touring, and the Steering wheel is of different inner shape. I think that base models do receive the Bose stereo, which is very good (we own an ‘02 MDX touring).
I personally think the roof rack makes the car look better, but it does take a minor toll on fuel economy.
Q: What are good after market modifications for 2005 acura mdx?
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or websites to help .. I do want to put the navigation/ stereo from touring model but im not sure if it will fit in my base model
A: i think the only thing they do to the touring model is make the faceplate where the stero goes is make it bigger. i think it will fit if your get that faceplate.i no theres no performance parts maybe a diff intake but thats bout all and ive seen a few black mdx’s with diff rims that look ok
Q: Acura MDX 2008 Bluetooth?
What is the base MDX Bluetooth (HandsFree Link) like? Does it have voice command? How do you control it?
I am talking about the base model, without the Sport, Tech, or Entertainment Packages
I am talking about the base model, without the Sport, Tech, or Entertainment Packages
A: the acura bluetooth handsfree link is pretty accurate and easy to use. it is very clear and picks up you voice very well. it can connect to pretty much every bluetooth enabled phones, and some with phone book exchanges. i believe the voice command only comes with the navi, i might be wrong on this. but the voice command too is very easy to use and very accurate. the voice command and the blue tooth buttons are located on each sides the steering wheel.
Q: how do i prevent my 2008 Acura MDX from losing the radio presets when I switch users (i.e. keys)?
I own a 2008 Acura MDX.
There are 2 user profiles that are based on the keys. The profiles work great for seats and mirrors but when it switches from user 1 to user 1, I lose all of the radio presets.
A: Since it is still under warranty, let the Acura dealer worry about it
Q: Where online can I find a 2003 Acura MDX owner manual, free or not?
Doesn’t matter in what form available for order – download or hard copy. Prefereably a UK-based provider. Or any other in lieu. Thanks.
A: check the acura website
Q: what year did the acura mdx get rear curtain airbags standard?
I know the newer (‘07 and up) models come with the rear curtain side airbags standard, but I’m not sure what model year they were added. Also, is it standard in both the base and Touring models?
A: The year was 2004. I found this out by using http://www.safercar.gov to research year by year the standard side curtain airbags in the MDX model. Beforehand, in 2003, Acura did have torso airbags in the MDX, but they did not protect the head. This would most likely be standard in both models as honda, acura’s parent company, adopted a policy called ’safety for everyone’ which entailed putting all possible safety features in all models, regardless of whether it was the basic model or not. Now when you say rear curtain, that’s a loaded question. This is because side curtain airbags cover all rows of the car, so when the curtain was introduced into the vehicle it would cover both sides fully in general.
Q: i have a 2002 acura mdx, i would like to update my gps, how do i know if mine is a dvd based system?
A: If the machine asks you to insert the GPS DVD everytime you want to use it then it is DVD based.
Q: 2005 Acura MDX repairs?
I have a 2005 Acura MDX with a black paint job. But recently, my car was rear-ended on the right side by a hit and run. Currently, I am weighing my options between filing a hit and run claim with my insurance company (Geico) or looking for a new/reconditioned/refurbished/used bumper to replace mine.
The degree of the damage is a scrape and cracking of the bumper. This is only on the right end of the bumper, directly above the right exhaust pipe. To put it in a more visual sense, pretend my bumper is made of plastic and you tried to cut through it with a modeling knife. Such an incision would look close to how mine is damaged, but with many, many cracks and breaks.
I am hesitant on calling Geico because they may up my premium rate simply because of this incident. It wasn’t my fault and I am dead certain that it is the result of a hit and run as my car had gone through a car wash on the same day. I think I would know if my car had any pre-existing damages before and after the wash. (picky about soap spots and the hand dryers not getting every end of the car dried up).
Based on my research, it would seem that to replace the rear bumper entirely, brand new, it would cost around $400.00-450.00 out of my pocket. Then there would be the paint job to be concerned with in which many dealers stake the claim that automobile paint is very expensive. I could only imagine tacking on another $200 there. A resulting potential total of $600-650 straight from my pocket.
There are also reconditioned parts which go around $105-150. I have no idea on the compatibility of these or the quality either.
I can’t track down who it was that damaged my car, all I have is the where and the when. What should I do in terms of costs and repairs? Do any of you have experience with hit and run comprehensive coverage with Geico? Have any of you gone through what I experienced and paid out of your pocket for a similar type vehicle? (Vehicle type being a SUV or luxury SUV.)
This is the first time this has happened to me and I have no idea what my best option(s) are.
A: Make a police report first.
The reason you buy insurance is to get help with things like this. They should be able to restore the car and you will have to pay the deductable, unless you have U2 uninsured motorist coverage, which might recover the deductable. They won’t do diddly squat for you without a police report.
If the settlement for the damage leaves you with a check you can use to fix the car, do that any way you want- or drive it the way it is and the money burning your pocket. You might even find used parts that match for cheap and put them on yourself. A bumper might run over a thousand bucks new and then more to have it painted and installed. Geico can spell out all the options to you. Then again, you can keep quiet about it and continue paying Geico for protection you never use. Go on and call Geico. They’ll have a claims adjuster look the damage over and offer you a settlement. They will need to refer to a police report.
Maybe a can of Bondo for plastic body parts, some sand paper, primer and paint will get it looking like new.
Q: trying to get a new car (from a CR-V to an MDX) – really bad at this car-buying-stuff… read?
okay. so, me and my ex bought a Honda CR-V together in April. We overpayed (18,495) for an 04 with 66K miles on it. It’s an EX, has a sunroof, 6 disc, roof racks, privacy glass, etc. We were finacing 10K on it for 54 months. We now owe about 9K on it. I had a paid off Civic that my insurance was 110 a month (I’m 20 years old) and now that I have this (it’s only titled in my name – but we’re both on the loan) I have a $247/ month payment and my insurance runs about $250/ month. He moved out, and is only paying his half of the loan – no longer helping with insurance. I can’t afford to keep paying the insurance and the payment – I’m looking to knock stuff down to about 400/ month max. I don’t know if that’s possible, but I gotta try!!
first of all, i’ll be buying this car on my own. i was already approved through honda financial services, so i’m gonna be sticking to a honda or acura. i like the mdx – it’s such a nice car. & rumor has it that it would bump down my insurance because it has a wider base, is lower to the ground, and is 5 star all around. (the honda had 4 star rollover and passenger safety). also, i’ll be getting an older one with higher miles. i’m looking into selling my vehicle privately and then paying it off and using that as a down payment. i know the trade in value of it would be horrid. i know a sedan would lower everything, but i don’t like them – and it’s safer in my eyes and i love the “trunk” space. (HUGE stroller). the thing is, i don’t have great credit (it’s not bad, just not built up yet) and i had it checked at a dealership yesterday and they said they could get me approved for an 03 vehicle that had no more than 85K miles on it.
so i would have to balance everything out selling my car privately, getting the down payment for the new one, finding a new one that they could get me approved for, making sure my insurance is gonna lower on it, make sure my payments are gonna lower, AND not be without a vehicle for even one day.
is this even possible?? has anyone done this before?? any suggestions for how to do this without screwing myself???
A: At least we don’t need to ask any clarifying questions.
First rule learned here, never get a loan with someone else on the title unless you are married. But let’s not beat a dead horse.
You stated that he is still paying half of the loan but not helping on insurance and you would like to keep it below $400 a month. With him paying half, you should only be paying $373.50 a month. Are you afraid he isn’t going to continue to help you pay half of the vehicle?
Have you shopped insurance on your vehicle by calling other agencies? Try calling your own company and telling them the position you are in and seeing if there is anyway to reduce to the cost of your insurance. Jack up your deductibles and bring coverage down to minimum. The cheapest way to deal with this is to keep the car you already have.
But let’s assume that’s not an option.
What are the top 3 cars you would like to have? Make a list of those and call your insurance agency and get the approximate cost to insure them. Now we have some numbers to work with.
The problem with the Acura is repair costs. You can add several hundred dollars on top of a normal repair because of the name plate. You’re young, so why do you need an Acura? Don’t underestimate the cost of repairs and maintenance for such a vehicle. The reason people are in the problems they are in today is because they are overextending themselves with vehicles and homes they can’t truly afford. I don’t want to sound preachy, but I would hate for you to see a repair bill on an Acura.
I ran over to www.kbb.com to find out the value of your vehicle. In good condition, you can get about $13,400 out of it. It’s a Honda and coming into winter time…I think you probably could get that. The most exciting thing is that you are not upside down in your car loan.
The problem is that you financed 10,000 on a vehicle and you can’t afford to pay that payment. What vehicle do you expect to find in that price range? You will be right back in the same situation you are in.
This is the route I would recommend:
1. Attempt to get your insurance lowered. Call your company first and see what they can do. Call other companies and see what their rates are.
2. Sell the vehicle to a private seller, pay off the loan, and buy a used Honda Civic for $3500. Drive this for 2 years while banking $250 extra a month. At the end of 2 years, you will have $6,000 in the bank and you can buy the car you want without wrecking yourself financially.
I do not recommend you attempt to purchase another car. Financially, it does not make sense for you.
Q: New SUV Choices Question?
I am looking at new SUVs. I have two separate categories. Smaller and Larger, which do you think is the best in each category. I know a lot about cars. I am mainly leaning towards a V8 but I haven’t ruled out the V6s yet.
I prefer the Truck based construction to Crossover but Volvo and Acura are okay.
Suggestions are alright altough I have looked at nearly every SUV on the Market. I want Heated Leather Seats, Navigation System, Rear Seat DVD system (not 4Runner but not a huge deal).
I do not want an American or Korean car.
