A: your impala should get between 18 and 24 sometime a bit more if you have the 3,8 motor. depending on the load–people,shopping bags etc..– and the condition of the car and you driving style it could be either better or worse. the malibu is 18 to 26 roughly.. my friend has an impala with a 3,8 in it and he averages arounf 24 . mostly onthe freeway and very little city driving.. its all in your foot !! good luck

Q: Where is the horn on a 2008 Chevrolet Impala LS?
I finally sold my toyota avalon and i took out the aftermarket compression horn I had installed. Now I want to put it in my 2008 Impala and I can’t find where the stock horn is hooked up! It’s got a complicated layout under the hood and i was hoping to find someone who can tell me how to get to the horn (which seems to be near the battery/behind the fuse box) help anyone?

A: The horns are behind and below the pass. side headlamp assembly. 2 horns bolt to a bracket. The headlamp assembly will need to come out to access.

A: sure, it’s the same body, with differen’t motor mounts and drivetrain it will work.

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Impala LS and was wondering if I’d be able to upgrade things from an 04 or 05 Impala SS. I’m not wanting to do anything to make the car as fast as the SS. I’m just thinking of doing simple things like suspension and brakes, to improve overall performance during turns and stopping. Another thing I want to know is what kind of brakes from another Chevy can I fit on an Impala LS? I’ve thought about the following cars: Impala SS, Impala 9C1, and Camaro brakes. Just curious.

A: It would largely be a waste of money since the only real difference is the engine. So improving your breaks and suspension would probably make it perform BETTER than an SS in corners. That isn’t saying much though. :p

You have the 3800 V6 so you have some room for mods because of the Grand Prix. Check out zzperformance.com for engine mods. They should all work on the Impala.

A: Different manufacturers may use different wheel mounting patterns. Some use a 4-lug and others, a 5-lug pattern. Usually, GM rims will fit GM cars, and Ford will fit Ford, etc. In some cases different manufacturers use the same bolt pattern. The only way to check is to test fit them on your car or measure the bolt circle to see if it’s the same as your car.

Q: 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS turn signal switch?
I have a 2002 Impala LS that sometimes the turn signals do not work. When this happens I push the hazard switch on and off and then they start to work. I need to clean the contacts or replace this switch, but I do not know how to remove it from the dashboard. Has anyone done this or had a similar problem?

A: Its is not hard, but a lot of people are apprehensive about getting into dash or column. The switch is definitely the most likely culprit.

Q: 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS doesn’t start Help?
Hi I have an 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS and last morning when I try to start it didn’t start I tried like 4 times and the fifth time it start I had a 10 minutes drive to Fry’s market place and trying to find a parking spot my car died, I tried to started nothing after all day trying to find the problem I called the towing company, I’m siting in my car and I decide to try one more time the car starts, I move the car back and forward everything is good, I get home whit the towing company hi unload the car in front of my house after he leaves I try to start the car to put it in my garage the car starts, when I get in the garage whit the car it stops again and I can started again.
Anybody can tel me what is the problem?
The battery is good, the tank is full, the fuel filter is new, what is the problem?

A: I would check the fuel pump. When the car stop running, shut it off, wait about 5 minutes and then just turn the key to run but not start and listen or have someone listen to the gas tank for a whining noise from the fuel pump. It should start and run the pump motor for about 3 to 10 seconds before it stops. If absolutely no sound then most likely that the pump has shut down. Only fix is t replace the fuel pump.

Many times the fuel pump life can be extended by keeping the gas tank at more than 1/2 full, especially during the summer months for the gas in the tank keeps the fuel pump cool.

Q: What kind of intake should i put on my Chevrolet Impala?
I have been looking at the tornado ( www.tornadoair.com ), and it says that the tornado can boost my fuel economy 28%. It also says that the tornado will perform even better if i have an aftermarket high flow air intake system. My question is, what is the best aftermarket high flow air intake system to put on my 2001 Chevrolet IMpala LS? It has a 3.8 litre engine, and has no current modificatioins, everything is stock. Thanks!

A: That’s a total waste of time and money. It’s unlikely that there is any better intake available on the market for your car than what is already on it. The tornado is worthless too. Any sort of turbulance that it may create will be lost in the rest of the intake anyway. The air has to split up 6 ways anyway, so how would one vortex work?

Q: I’ve a 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS and its not hot inside have put a thermostat and replaced intake manifold

A: Another possibility that i didn’t see in your other answers here was, that the heater core could possibly be stoped up. If you lift the hood and look near the firewall for 2 hoses. Once the car reached running temperature. Both hoses should be hot if the heater core is working properly. Other wise only one hose will be hot( the one running from the engine to the heater core) , and the other one will be cold (Runs from heater core to motor).
If you have air coming out of the vents you have selected(ex. Floor, Defrost, vents etc..) Then more than likely you have a heater core problem. Also if your Radiator is low on fluids, that could cause your problem. Start there first. Then run vehichle and check your hoses.

Q: I scraped the rear plastic bumper of my 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS? Is it hard to fix?
I was backing out of my backyard driveway and my rear lower half (plastic, fiber, or whatever) bumper scraped the edge of my house brick. Now the plastic bumper is scraped up. No indentation. These are not feather scrapes-but, scrapes none the less. The pint on the palstic scraped so you can see dark lines. Its the weekend and no one else to ask. Can this be repaired “as is”? Like you would on a touch up job like a feather up job ? OR – does the whole rear lower bumper have to be replaced even for just scraping? I am not familiar with what the rear lower bumper is made of. How much does this usually cost? Thank you
I guess it is actually the lower rear bumper “COVER” i am refering to.

A: You should call your local Chevy dealers service dept.They will give you a phone number of a company that repairs this type of damage.These company’s will come to you and give you a estimate to repair and repaint this damage.These people are pros and when done will look like new for about 20% the cost of a body shop.We use these companys all the time here at our dealership and they do great work and they can match any color.Best of luck.
