Q: Ford escape????
i have a 2001 Ford Escape V6 3.0L and it has no Radiator cap????? i looked and then i put antifreeze in the bottle. Why does it have no cap????

A: Most cars that don’t have a radiator cap have a pressurized cap on the overflow tank instead. Many foreign cars have done this for years. One advantage is that you have less evaporation of the coolant.

Just make sure the overflow tank is filled up to the “cold” line when the engine is cold, and don’t open it when the engine is hot. If you suspect a problem, they can be pressure-checked just like a radiator cap, with the proper adapter.

My current lease on my car is going to be up next year, and I was wondering if any of you have driven the Ford Escape, or own it? Do you enjoy driving it? I’ll probably buy it this time around now that i’m making more money. So looking for honest opinions on the car….I went to look at them the other weekend and thought they were cute. Thanks!

A: i work on them pretty regularly as long as you keep up on the maintenance they are fairly reliable vehicles 4 wheel drives have less tire wear issues than 2wd ones but other than that they are a good vehicle

Q: 2002 Ford Escape hesitates to start every great once in a while, any guesses what it might be?
Every great once in a while — like once every couple of months or so, my ‘02 Ford Escape doesn’t want to turn over. When it happens I have to hold the key on and let it crank for 30 seconds or so and then it will turn over. One of my guesses is, it might be doing this after sitting in direct sun for several hours, but I’m not sure.

Is there anything that Escape’s are notorious for, that might be causing this? Any speculations what it might be?

I know I should take it to a garage — but since it happens so sporadically I forget about it — and more than likely the garage won’t be able to duplicate the problem.

A: Try this… Turn the key to the “ON” position….wait 30 seconds…then fire it up….
Fuel injection is a high fuel pressure system.
Somehow after the vehicle sits a while the fuel system will lose pressure causing the motor to crank longer to build up the necessary pressure to deliver adequate fuel to the motor.
Turning on the key also turns on the electric fuel pump in your gas tank creating the necessary pressure. It should fire up much quicker! Try it…… Also getting the fuel filter changed wouldn’t hurt anything either! Good Luck!

Q: Why my 2001 Ford escape egr failure and valve blew up on the side?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape. For some reason while driving at high speed, the Side of my EGR Valve is blown out. Before that I had problems with misfire, I replaced two spark plug solenoids and the six plenum gaskets. After that the car was running weaken (without power). I replace the EGR valve, but the problems continue. I found that the tube going from the exhaust manifold to the EGR was extremely hot. What is happening?

EGR has no relation on misfire unless the sensor is shorted or grounded

misfire will cause you cat to heat up abnormally
and running rich too,

your check engine light shoul be on by now,,have it scan

Q: Why would a 2009 Ford Escape make a dog bark sound when accelerating after a stop?
I JUST bought a 2009 Ford Escape and notice that everytime I accelerate after a stoplight or stop sign, my engine makes 1 or 2 quick dog bark sounds. Anybody know what that could mean?

A: If i recollect, it was a Gay supportive song. I think it was either California’s state anthem or Michael Jackson’s hit song. Either way, all three of them have gay in common.

Q: Would a Ford Escape be able to hold the box springs to a double bed?
I need to transport a double bed and the only vehicle I have available on short notice is a Ford Escape. Would it be big enough? Multiple trips are an option as long as I can get the box spring in (since it would be the largest and most inflexible piece.) What do you guys think?

A: it might fit inside at and angle but probably not but this is an easy thing to haul regardless because you can put it on the roof just put a thick blanket on top of the car first if you don’t have a roof rack so you don’t scratch the paint and buy some tie downs at local hardware store or walmart for around 10 bucks put the box spring of there tie it down and your off just make sure you secure side to side and front to back.

My 2005 Ford Escape was in an accident.
It doesn’t look like the air bag properly deployed.
The side curtains look fine, its the drivers airbag from the seat that I question.
It was a driver side impact, to just in front of the driver.

Q: Is there a way to turn off daytime running lights for ford escape?
I have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT and I was wondering if there is a way to make it where the daytime running lamps aren’t always on. I thought Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were supposed to turn off if it was sunny outside, but I guess I was wrong.

A: I think that in your fuse box, if you follow the key you can take out the fuse for the running lights. But I am not 100% positive.

Q: Any opinons on the Ford Escape hybrid from people who drive it?
I really want to buy the Ford Escape Hybrid in the fall when I finally give up on my gas-guzzling Jeep. I was just looking for real opinions from people who drive it. Is it what you expected? What could be better? Thanks!

A: I don’t own one, but my in-laws do and they were just in town with it so my husband and I got a chance to spend a lot of time in it. They’ve had it about a year now and like it a lot. Their miles per gallon is about the same as I get in my small sedan (there’s a graph you can display on the console that tells you what mpg you’re getting as you go; I thought that was interesting to see). One thing they mentioned on this trip was when they got stuck in traffic on the freeway they didn’t use any gas idling, since it could run off the battery–something I didn’t think about.
