Q: Ford expedition?
I have a Ford Expedition Eddie Baure, it has fog/driving lights already built into the bottom part of the front bumper. The problem is when it rains which I live in Western Washington and it rains alot here. The light bulbs get wet and burn out from the spray from the tires, is there a way that I can keep them dry?

A: see if ford has a recall of service bulletin call the service dept and they will look in computer

Q: ford expedition?
is there anything we need to lookout for when test driving a ford expedition, 1998 fourwheeldrive? its an eddie bauer and has over 100k miles on it. any recalls or things we would need to know?

A: im not sure about an expedition…..but my 98 ford explorer eddie bauer edition 4wd had SEVERE suspension problems after it hit 100k miles. you may want to have a good look at that before buying. other than that, mine’s done pretty well.

Q: Ford Expedition?
I am going to look at a Ford Expedition on Sunday. It is a few years old and I was wondering if any of you web heads have or had one and can tell e how well it does on gas and is it a reliable long lasting SUV. Any advice is more then appreciated.

A: The Expedition is a great vehicle no problem areas to speak of. The gas mileage is not bad for the size I had a 4.6 expedition and I managed 21 on the highway and 14 in town. It has a comfortable ride, quiet cabin and is roomy I traded my Expedition for an Explorer I liked the Explorer however it does not even compare with its big brother

Q: Where can i find a ford expedition with a chrome package on it?
Im looking for a year 2004 or greater ford expedition with a nice chrome package on it. Does anyone know where i can find one, pictures of one would help,if your selling!..Thanks!

A: Check the Ford Dealer or Autotrader, carmax, yahoo autos etc.

Q: Is it possible to convert a Ford Expedition to manual shift?
I’ve noticed that the Ford F-150 resembles the Expedition and wondered if anyone has tried taking a manual shift conversion to this vehicle. They did manufacture the F-150 as manual shift at one time.

A: Yes it is possible, provided it is a 4.6L Expedition (the 5.4L on an F-150 was never offered with a manual transmission). It WILL be costly though. You would require the transmission, transfer case, clutch and brake pedal assemblies, the shifter itself, the hydraulic system for the clutch, the PCM, as well as some additional wiring, at the very least. My question would be WHY you would want to convert this to a manual transmission? The search for all the parts needed will NOT be easy, since there weren’t too many V8 F-150s sold with a manual transmission. Hope this helps.

Q: I have a Ford Expedition with the tow package how can reprogram the engine for better gas mileage?
2005 Ford Expedition with tow package, not looking to tow anything. Need to save gas.

A: Often a tow package includes a different gear ratio at the axle and that may have a negative effect on gas mileage. The only way to fix this is to have the axle rebuilt or completely replaced. Sometimes programmers will have a mode for better mileage as well. Both of these options are rather expensive and might improve your mileage 2-3 mpg, it would be years before you would actually pay for this with the savings on gas. If you really want to save on gas you’d be better off driving almost anything other than an expedition.

Q: What are signs that my ford expedition needs a tuneup?
My sister has a 1997 ford expedition xlt and i was wondering what are some sign for this specific suv that it needs a tuneup? Some of the sign i see is when you are driving it the engine sounds different than it use to sound ( know it sounds more like a tracter engine and before it sounded like a 5.4 L triten engine) and one thing it has dual rear exit exhaust. And one more thing i noticed is that when you first takes off it shakes real bad.

A: it will run like s*** no power no good gas miles

Q: How much does it cost to have a 99 Ford Expedition keypad lock reset?
My sister-in-law had brought a used Expedition last year. But the problem is that she never got the keyless entry number pad unlock code. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have this reset at a Ford Dealer?

A: We usually charge 35 dollars or half an hour labor to hook up the scan tool and pull the original keyless entry code. It will vary from dealer to dealer, but it must be a dealer that retrieves it for you. After you get the original code you can set a code of your own if you want, but the original code will always work. To program your own code, enter the factory code, and press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds, then enter your personal 5 digit code, then either code will unlock the vehicle.

Q: Why is my 98 Ford Expedition is not getting Hot Air?
My 98 Ford Expedition is not getting hot air through out the truck. It blows cold air but not hot. We have changed out the thermostat. The hoses are getting hot, and the heater coal is working! The air is coming out Thur the vents but its only cold in the front and the back. The knob on the from changing the switch from hot to cold is also moving and working properly! Any suggestions?

A: Fords use an electric ‘blend door’ actuator. Most of the time, the motor and switch work fine but the blend door (inside the plenum) breaks and there is nothing, besides replacement, that will work. First make sure there is nothing wrong with the motor/heat control dial/wires before spending a fortune to replace the plenum.

Q: What is the weight of a 1998 Ford Expedition ?
I need to get the weight of the 1998 Ford Expedition, here in Florida we need the poundage to consider the cost of registration. Please include where you found the info, so I can make sure its legit.

Thank you!

Q: How to tell if your Ford Expedition has a blown head gasket?
Hi everyone, I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and everyone is telling me that it has a blown head gasket, but then some are telling me it doesn’t so what are the signs?

A: The vehicle would usually start to run ruff and lose power, the oil will also turn to a milky color ,you engine will start to run hot . You can pull the spark plugs and if the head gasket is blown the cylinders will have coolant in them, plugs will be fouled out & milky.

Q: How do you refurbish the side panelling for 2003 Ford Expedition?
I drive a Ford Expedition 2003. The the siding is dry and doesn’t shine as it once did when new. I have been using wheel shine to get it to shine but with not very good results. What may be the best product or technique to shine the door siding???????

A: Pure Magic will do

Q: Can I remove the running board from my 2002 Ford Expedition?
If I can remove the running board from my 2002 Ford Expedition, is it still safe to use it?

A: Yes. A running board is only there for the purpose of entry assistance, and appearance. Removing it will have no effect on safety, or structural rigidity of the vehicle itself.

Q: What is wrong with my 2000 ford expedition?
My 2000 ford expedition won’t start. The engine doesn’t crank. I tried jump starting the car and it wouldn’t work. I took the starter to get it tested and they said it worked fine. I changed the solenoid and it still wouldn’t start. What might be wrong in my car.

A: It could be many things.

You mentioned a solenoid. What happens if you jump the solenoid, ie: power the solenoid directly from the battery. Your solenoid should have 2 big terminals and at least 1 small one. You can jump from the big terminal that the battery + cable is hooked to and the small terminal. If there’s 2, then use the small terminal on the side the battery connects to.

Unless your Ford is radically different from my ol’ ‘74 Pinto… If in doubt, get someone to look at the solenoid and ask them how to connect a bump switch.

The way things usually work is the key works a switch that will then route power to the solenoid. All a solenoid is is an electrically operated switch, or relay. If there’s no power to the solenoid from the switch, you won’t crank.

The switch should also power on your engine’s computer and ignition and all that modern stuff. If the ECU doesn’t get power, I doubt the engine would start, but it should crank.

Q: What are the signs of a fuel pump going out in a 2003 Ford Expedition?
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition, and my truck takes a couple of turns of the ignition key before it starts. Also, it recently just started to turn off while driving. Are these the signs of our fuel pump going out or is it something else? Also, the relay switch board seems to get really hot. I am not to sure if that is natural, but its really hot to the touch. Thanks so much.

A: like he say not all give same system
some just die out Other only hot some when gas low like
hot relay may be bad or over working pump gas filter clog
corroded wire on pump sending unit pump relay
fuel filter get one worth the try
turn key 3 to 4 time on be fore u start it
if it start better then pressure problem
may have electrical problem
best thing try key on test above get you in direction of problem
hope it help
