Which one would you rather drive?

A: The Maxima obviously.

Q: Is this a good price for a 2010 Maxima?
Is $26,620 a good price for a 2010 Nissan Maxima 3.5 S? I’m going to buy one & this is the price the dealer gave me after rebates and incentives. I just want to make sure I’m not getting ripped off.

A: Brand new? Not a demo, or anything? Without knowing the options included, I would still have to say that is a pretty good price…I know that dealer invoice is @ $28,000, depending…I think you have done quite well.

Q: Is the Nissan Maxima Navigational system compatible for the Altima?
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 and want to purchase a Navigational system that came and fits a 04-06 Nissan Maxima. Id like to direct plug it in but need to make sure of it’s compatibility.

A: Won’t work If the car had navagation you could replace parts. The navi control unit DVD player is inside the dash board behind the lower compartment the Audio visiual switch and A/C controls are different the dash board display is color and the Navagation control panel is different and your stock wiring harness does not have plugs for all these units to communate nor does it have a GPS antennia. So I know you have your eyes on that 2008 Altima with touch start and blue tooth hands free phone and technology package with navagation. Trade and add another car mortgage onto your credit.

Q: Nissan Altima (3.5),Infiniti G35 or Nissan Maxima?
I want one of these cars in the 2004-2006 range

I’m looking for a good combo of MPG,performance and dependibility

What’s best?

A: If you want the max performance, go with the Infiniti G35. It has slightly more power than the Altima, but is more expensive.

If you want a great car all around for a cheaper price, get the 3.5 SE Altima. I have one and I love it! It is only half a second slower than a GT Mustang in the quarter mile (Automatic). Great engine with nice interior.

If you want the most luxury, probably go with the Maxima. Its a little more expensive and weighs more than the Altima, but it is still a very good, reliable car with more comfort on the inside.

Q: Manual shift on automatic car help?
My grandfather has a. automatic transmission 2005 3.5 SL Nissan Maxima, and it has this feature called “manual shift.” It’s in the gear shifter, to the right of “D.” Anyone know what it is, how to use it, and if it increases fuel efficiency?

A: the manual shifting is for ’sporiter’ dirving

Q: what car is faster?
whats car is faster 01 acura cl type s oe 2002 nissan maxima 3.5……………..the acura has 260 hp and the maxima has 255hp

A: 2002 nissan maxima 0 – 60 mph [secs] 6.3
0 – 100 mph [secs] 17.8
1/4 mile [secs at mph] 14.9 at 95.6
Top Speed [mph] ca. 130
Lateral acceleration [g] 0.82
Fuel Economy [City/Hwy in mpg] 21 / 28

your welcome : )

Q: Used car???
I’ve got my eyes on a few good ones, what would you get?and what are other good cars(compact/mid-size)?They are all between $17,000-23,000 and 55-70 k miles
1)2004 Nissan Altima 2.5SL
2)2005 Toyota Camry CE
3)2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5 S

A: They all might be good. I would be partial to the Altima

Q: Who here has used (or heard of) the eBay vehicle protection program?
I’m looking to buy a car, and I found an 04′ Nissan Maxima being sold for $2700 on Craigslist. I don’t know anything about this vehicle protection program, and I was wondering what experiences you have had with it. The buyer is in Cleveland, as well as myself. She said she would only use eBay vehicle protection program.

Here’s what she sent me:
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in buying my car. Let me tell you a few words about the car. It’s a 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE, in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever, never been involved in any accidents. The interior looks great (NO SMOKING). It has 72,103 miles . It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name. The price is not negotiable , $2,690.00 is my last price.I sell the car at this price because I cannot enjoy it due to my job (I work as a dealer on a cruise ship) and I’m a single woman and I have nobody close who can use it. All documents, including owner’s manual, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will be provided along with the car. Also about payment and shipping I will use only eBay vehicle protection program so we can both be protected.I just need your full name and address so i can open a case (with no further obligation or fees).

What do you make of this? Thank you in advance.
I never said it didn’t look suspicious you jack-hole. I was just looking for a second opinion.

A: This is a long-running scam. You wire the money, it’s gone.

Search this forum for the “ebay protection program”, you’ll find many folks who luckily asked about it before they lost thousands, and folks who lost thousands because they didn’t heed the warnings.

Q: is this a scam on craigslist?
ive never bought anything from craigslist and i found a nice car good deal but this is what the seller sent me…is it a scam?

*****(1st email)
Hi and thanks for contacting me regarding my 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL ad. This car’s engine runs very, very smooth. No damages, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, never smoked in, never been involved in accidents. All power and optional equipment work perfectly.

This Maxima has 98,579 miles, Automatic Transmission, leather, heated seats, power everything, wood trim, save thousands, continental low profile high performnce tires, panoramic sun roof and much much more options!!!

It’s in an exceptional shape. This is a very reliable vehicle that has never given me any problems. A great car that will not disappoint. I just moved to Helena, MT because my husband is from here and he wanted to be closer to his parents as they are old and very ill.

Besides, there are lot of things which have priority now, so, this car has to go. We are expecting a baby in a few weeks and I really want to improve the old house we bought when we moved in time for the baby.
The car is ready for the shipping in the shipping company warehouse.
As you probably noticed, the price is $3,850 for you if you will buy it today or tomorrow.
Due to the fact I am very busy with my work and I don’t stay too much at home, the car is already to the shipping company and will be delivered from there very fast, shipping cost is included in price.
I know is best that we speak over the phone but due to my hearing problem is very hard for me to communicate with the potential buyer on the phone, i hope this won’t complicate the transaction.

The transaction will be made under e-Bay’s buyer protection program.
So, please reply back with your name and shipping address (street, city, zip, state) if you are really interested in purchasing this car so we can start the arrangements!

My best wishes.
Janet Thomson

P.S : If you need pictures, just ask!
*****(2nd email)

Hello,

In order to view more pictures, please click on the PhotoBucket link : http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?folder_id=2065082
As you can read in my first email, I’ll cover the shipping fees.

In order to notify e-Bay I will need your full name and shipping address (street, city, zip, state) so I can open a transaction case and they will contact you for further details and instructions. I want a safe deal and I want to end this transaction with eBay’s buyer protection program .

How it work:
You make the payment and send the payment details to e-Bay.
After they check the payment, they announce me to start the shipping.
After you will receive the product and see that is ok, you have
to announce them that you have it.
Only then, they will release me the payment details.

Hope to hear from you soon…
Janet Thomson

A: Scam, scam, scam. You get no car and your money disappears. Here’s the details:

.

Q: Does this sound like a scam?
I saw a 2005 maxima for sale for $2900 but the seller wants to use ebay buyer protection and i wanted to know if this is a legit purchase, here is a copy of the replied email, i really really want to get this car but im not 100% sure, PLZ HELP!!

2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE 4DR Sedan – 45,000 Miles

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I sell it at this price ($ 2,900 ) because i just finished the divorce with my husband. The divorce has finished 6 months ago and the car is mine now. After the divorce I was forced to buy a new house. Following the financial crisis I can’t afford to pay the bank and I decided to sell the car. This car is in excellent working condition, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used, in 100% working and looking condition and comes with a clear title.
>From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services (I will receive the payment only after you receive and inspect the car and only if you agree to buy it).
We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account. The final price that I want for this car is $2,900. I will pay for shipping and handling.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer (if you are interested to buy) very soon.

P.S. Here is the VIN: 1N4BA41E35C837327. You can run a CarFax report and see that everything checks out.

SO does this sound like a scam? or should i go for it?

the seller states i will have 3 days after i receive the car to inspect it and all that, and if i dnt feel like buying it they will ship it back… so plz help!!!
yea pretty much, dnt wanna lose $2900 u know haha

A: It’s a scam. EBay is strictly a website. They do NOT handle transactions as this person states. You send $2900 to the phony “EBay Services” address and that’s the last time you ever see your money or hear from this person. The VIN may be a legit VIN but that doesn’t mean this person has it and is going to ship it to you.

Q: Scam on Craigslist for the sale of very cheap vehicles?
There is a scam involving Craigslist and the sale of cars. The car will be listed for about half of the Kelly Blue Book value. When you email to enquire about the vehicle the reply is something like this,

The 2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE (or more recently it has been a 2002 Toyota Echo) is located in Valley Cottage NY, and it is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 33K miles and the VIN is: (then he lists a valid VIN # ). It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name. I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at: http://s…….
The price is $2,998 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so I decided to use a service from Pivotal Payments. To begin the transaction I’ll need your full name and shipping address. I will forward the details of our transaction to Pivotal Payments(or ProPay) and then you will receive an invoice from them. The car will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you will have 5 days for inspection.

Thank you,

I fell for one of these scams recently (I know, I know, how could I possibly be so stupid, but we all have our faults.) I am working with my local police department to try to find this person or persons. My question is

Who else has actually also fell for this scam?
What is the email address that you were corresponding with?
Where did you send the money? (I sent my Moneygram to NY)
Would you be willing to email me and if needed give more details.

If we can find the commonalities between these transactions, and the more information we have the better chance we have of actually catching these guys.

It does frustrate me when others say, “You’ll never get your money back. You’ll never catch them.” These criminals are hoping that their victims will give up and think that it’s just too hard to track them down, but the more people who have been scammed this way, and there are quite a few unfortuanetly, the more information we can gather from each individual, then there is a chance that these criminals can be tracked down. I mean, the FBI is working on this, so they will eventually be caught.

If you want to email me privately you can click on my picture and it will take you to my profile and you can email me through Yahoo Answers, so both of our identities will still be protected.

Thanks for your help.

Adam M. – PLEASE EMAIL ME!!!! We need to get more info from each other. You can click on my picture and then it will take you to My Profile where you can send me an email that only you and I see.
We’ve got to work together to get these criminals and get our money back.

A: My wife and I were scammed by a Nancy Barth recently, we paid through Propay and it was supposed to go to a Propay agent named Kevin Wheeler, we’ve heard nothing since sending the money. Any info you have on this would be greatly appreciated.

Q: 2006 Nissan Altima Vs. 2006 Nissan Maxima, which one is better to buy?
I am interested in purchasing a Nissan Altima or a Maxima, I was never interested in the Maxima until this pass weekend and rented one and i really liked it. now i know that i can not afford a 2008 Maxima, but i can a 2004-2006, but i also like the Altima too, now i have done some research and see that the Maxima car insurance is high, but i really want to know what are some of u all`s thoughts, if i got the Altima i`d get the 3.5. and if i got the Maxima i`d get the SE not the SL. and so far as to gas mileage , which one does better the Maxima or the Altima 3.5? i know the Altima 2.5 does good in gas, but that is because it is a 4 cyl.

A: The Maxima is supposed to be a luxury car. It has a bad turning radius and is hard to park in a parking lot.

I would get the Altima, which comes with a 2.5L 4 cylinder and 3.5 V6, which is the same engine in the Maxima.
The Altima is more practical and user friendly.

I have driven both of these cars many times.

Q: What Car Battery Is The Best For My Car?
I Have A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA V6 3.5 Liter FI And I Went To Advance AutoParts.com & Found This Battery’s For My Car And I Don’t Knw Which Is The Best,Also I Wanted To Know How Do I Tell The Battery’s Apart?
This Is The link of the batteries which is best?

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=5005&ptset=A&searchfor=Battery

A: CCA is COLD CRANKING AMPS. most of the time a specific battery is already determined for you by the Manufacture (nissan) Every vehicle has a Battery type and then CCA. Advanced Auto Parts will have a book or they can look it up on their computers. It will tell you the battery type, from there in some cases you have a choice of either the standerd CCA or something a little stronger. The higher the CCA the more power the battery has when you do a cold start. Its your choice. If you live in a cold climate then maybe you should pick a stronger battery.. Its your choice.
Besides a choice in CCA you would also have a choice in warranty. the more you pay the longer warranty you have. A battery with a short warranty is just as good as one with a longer one. Most of the time (depending on brand) your useually paying more for the warranty term.

Q: What’s a better new car choice? 2010 Nissan Maxima SV w/ Premium Pckg./Tech (Navi) or 2010 Acura TL 3.5 TECH?
I’m looking to buy one of these cars in the Chicago area in the next few months. Both are about $39,500 sticker price. The Maxima is faster, gets a little better mileage and is much better looking (exterior). The Acura TL has a much nicer interior, longer warranty and is more reliable. Thanks.
I’ve eliminated cars such as the Infiniti G37, Lexus IS250, BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and MB C series because I’m 6′3″ and I want a midsize car to comfortably hold me and my tall friends. Also, since I live in the snow belt, I won’t buy a rear-wheel drive car. I can’t go above $40K and don’t want a used car. Ihate the looks of the Accord sedan V6 and find the front seats very uncomfortable. The Altima leaves me flat. The 2010 Subaru Legacy is dull, too. The Mazda 6 has questionable reliability.

A: Well, you pick two interesting cars to consider when you are buying a car since you are paying close to $40,000 for basically a Front-Wheel drive car with a high output engine. Before any detail about the cars are listed, you should really consider the 2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan or 2010 Lexus IS350. You can get both with a Navigation and combine them with another package. The Nissan Maxima was built to be a Sport Sedan that is easy-to-drive and offers performance that many seek in a car. Unfortunately, they made the car FWD. You may ask what is so bad about FWD? FWD gives you subpar acceleration and handling. Lets put it this way, would you ride a bike pedaling the back wheels or front wheels? The Nissan Maxima does offer a fantastic engine but it is not much faster than the Acura TL. Everything the Nissan Maxima offers, the TL offers. The Acura TL has a higher resale value, the interior is made to suit everyone, there sound system is just fantastic, and it is an Acura. Though Nissan is known for major performance in their cars, they have really went the opposite way in the Nissan Maxima. This part of the answer may not give you your deciding choice so here are some Pros/Cons for the car:

2010 Acura TL 3.5L w/ Technology Package:
Pros:
+ All-new 3.5-liter V-6engine produces 280-hp, 3.5-liter, 260 ft-lb of torque courtesy of greater displacement and additional high-performance features like Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) on both the intake and exhaust valves, and a special high-flow dual exhaust system. With projected EPA fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, the 3.5L is also targeted to meet California’s stringent CARB LEV II ULEV emissions certification. The pièce de résistance on the Acura TL SH-AWD is now available on the Acura TL for the first time.
+ 5-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters and Grade Logic Control gives you the fuel economy you need and performance you need
+
+ The list of substantial changes begins with the relocation of frame rails inside (rather than underneath) the vehicle’s floor pan, resulting in a nearly flat body underside with give better safety and performance
+ Further improving ride quality and road-holding are new dual-stage “blow off” style hydraulic suspension dampers, new hydro-compliant bushings (used to mount the transmission and key suspension components) and a new “smart” engine mount design
+ The Acura TL 3.5 offers 17-inch alloy wheels and 18-inch alloy wheels available with aggressive tires for the ultimate Acura TL performance experience
+ An impressive array of premium standard features includes a power moonroof, dual-zone adaptive climate control, 10-way adjustable (8-way power seat with 2-way power lumbar support) driver seat, 8-way adjustable power front passenger seat, and steering-wheel-mounted F1®-style paddle shifters for the Sequential SportShift automatic transmission. + The Technology Package includes the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, AcuraLink real-time traffic, AcuraLink weather with Doppler-style radar mapping, an Acura/ELS Surround premium audio system and Keyless Access System with pushbutton ignition. + The 2009 Acura TL is assembled in Marysville, Ohio and is covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and a 6-year/70,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Additional benefits of ownership include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing
+ Acura TL employs a double-wishbone independent front suspension and a multi-link independent system in back
+ Has impressive 0-60 which in about 6.3 sec
+ Bright HID projector-beam front headlights, pronounced wheel arches, a standard power moonroof and genuine stainless-steel body trim.
+ Featuring Acura’s new signature front grille, body sides defined by strong character lines, sweeping C-pillars and new LED taillights, the 2009 Acura TL is simultaneously Acura and yet wholly unique

Cons:
+ The MPG is not the greatest but what can you expect from a 3.5L engine
+ The car is quite expensive and there are cars out there with better features such as the RWD Infiniti G37 Sedan that will hit 60 in 5.6 seconds.

2010 Nissan Maxima SV w/ Premium Pacage & Tech Package:
Pros:
+ Inspired by the concurrent top secret development of the 2009 Nissan GT-R supercar, they threw away positioning words like “conservative” and “balanced” and concentrated instead on new concepts like “addictive performance,” “striking,” “commanding” and “powerful.”
+ The exterior design theme for the new Maxima is “Liquid Motion” – focusing on the flow of its powerful and beautiful surfaces, like the undulation of a wave. The look starts with Maxima’s aggressive stance and powerful fender volume, which is not unlike many exotic sports cars on the market today. This deeply sculpted body/fender treatment is seldom used for mass market vehicles because of the engineering and manufacturing complexity required to physically accomplish it. Maxima’s new stance is created by a slight reduction in wheelbase and overall length, along with a wider front and rear track
+ At the rear, Maxima features a new 12-LED L-shaped taillight design, with a pair of side marker bulbs for added visibility during night driving
+ The 2009 Nissan Maxima’s 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 is now rated at 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque (estimated), increases of 35 horsepower and 9 lb-ft of torque over the 2008 Maxima
+ In refining the award-winning VQ-series V6 for use in the new Maxima, engine development engineers focused on three areas – increasing air intake, increasing fuel burn efficiency and lowering exhaust backpressure
+ All 2009 Nissan Maximas come equipped with a revised Xtronic CVT™ with manual mode, tuned specifically for Maxima’s sporty driving character. The Maxima development team finessed the previous CVT design to improve responsiveness and strike a balance between sport and comfort, ultimately creating a transmission that provides a true synergy between engine and transmission, along with smooth, responsive and efficient operation
+ For drivers seeking the utmost in vehicle control, a new “Ds mode” (drive sport) has been added to the CVT for 2009. “Ds mode” is an electronic control logic, that enhances sport driving through increased acceleration feel with higher engine revolutions, automatic engine braking and maintaining engine speed during cornering
+ Add the available Premium Package to the 3.5 SV for: Dual Panel Moonroof with power retractable sunshades, rear-window power sunshade, rear-seat air conditioning and audio controls, premium mood lighting, 7.0″ VGA color display with RearView Monitor, 2 GB Music Box flash drive, USB connectivity and eucalyptus wood-tone trim
+ 8way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, Digital Bose® audio system with AM/FM/in-dash 6-CD changer are among the features you get.

Cons:
+ FWD
+ It may be marketed as a performance sedan but a Honda Accord EX-L V6 has almost the same 0-60 time.
+ The car is way too expensive and gives you very little
+ Car is awkwardly shaped

It would be a good decision to look into other sedan like the Infiniti G37, Lexus IS350 or ES350, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, etc..
