Q: Whats the difference between the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid?
Whats the difference between the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid. The hybrid system, warranty, and performance. Do hybrids require special maintenance

A: One car is built by Toyota and the other one by Chevrolet

Q: Wha’ts the difference between the Toyota Camry and the Camry Hybrid?
What’s the difference between a regular Toyota Camry and the Toyota Camry Hybrid? Which is the better buy?

A: Haha, I think I answered your question about the Corolla and Camry! :)

-First off, when people think of Hybrib, MPG is the only thing on their mind. Not power, just the money to fill up a tank.

-This might be helpful: Here are the models of the Camry. LE, SE, XLE, and Hybrid. The are listed from lowest price to highest price.

-But anyways, the “REGULAR” 2008 Camry gets 21 MPG in the city and 31 on the highway. Those ratings go for the LE, SE, and XLE models.

-The next model is the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which achieves 33 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on highways.

–Here’s some more info.

-The LE has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The SE also has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The XLE has a 3.5L V6, 24 valve, 268 horsepower engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission. This is the most loaded and power model.
-The HYBRID has a 2.4-liter, 147 horsepower engine along with an electric motor that creates combined output totaling 187 horsepower.

Q: Can I convert my Toyota Camry Hybrid to a plug-in?
I’ve seen articles about conversion kits to convert hybrids into plug-in hybrids. I haven’t been able to find anything about converting the Toyota Camry Hybrid. I want to know who can do it and how much it will cost. thanks.

A: Not yet

Q: Is the Garmin Map Update 2009 dvd compatible with the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
I recently purchased a 2009 Garmin map update for the gps in my car. I’m not entirely sure that it will be compatible with my 2007 Toyota camry hybrid.

A: Not unless you have an aftermarket-installed Garmin GPS in your TCH. The Toyota navigation system uses a proprietary navigation DVD. Updates occur about once a year, and you can only get them from a Toyota parts source.

In the US, a new DVD will be upwards of US$200.

However, in Europe/UK, you can see if the updates are worth it before you order a new DVD, and pricing is vaguely better… http://www.toyota-mapupdates.eu/

Q: How do you like your 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
Owners of 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, how do you like it? And what stuff you don’t like?

A: i don’t own one but i’ve heard nothing but great things from owners. the gas mileage is great for a car of that size. quiet, refined, good handling, nice interior, nice option packages.

i hear the trunk is kinda smaller because of the battery.

Q: In a toyota camry hybrid, when does the electric motor turns on? Can it happen at speeds higher than 30mph?
Can the toyota camry run on electric mode if I’m on a highway?

A: I’ll note that I’m basing my answer on a Toyota Prius, which uses the same THS as the hybrid Camry…

Because of how the “transmission” is set up, for speeds over 42mph the gasoline engine must be turning. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it is burning fuel, though. You could be going downhill at 60mph, and neither the gasoline engine nor the electric motor will be propelling you, for example. The gasoline engine is kept at the most efficient RPM for your power demands, and any extra acceleration or power will come from the electric motor as needed. The gasoline engine will be kicked up in RPM if more power is required for a longer time period, and if it is producing too much power for your traveling demands, that excess power goes back into the battery for later use.

So basically, for what most people will see for highway speeds and terrain (interstates/freeways), yes your gasoline engine will be on, but it will be operating much more efficiently than if it didn’t have the electric to assist it at speed.

Since much of my highway driving has been local state highways with speed limits of about 35mph, I can get in some good stretches with just the electric motor. :)

Q: Why dose a toyota camry hybrid cost more that prius. you get better gas mileage in the prius (2010 50mpg)?
2010-toyota camry hybrid 34mpg
2010-toyota prius 50mpg
is there really a difference and if so what?

A: What makes you think that price should be determined based on mileage alone? Following that logic, a Prius should cost more than a Ferrari too. (Hint: It doesn’t. You could buy a fleet of eight (or more!) Prius for the price of the cheapest new Ferrari (which gets a whopping 13mpg) that I could find.)

Camry is larger, it’s a sedan (some people prefer that over the Prius hatchback), it has more power (not that anybody driving only on public roads needs it), and the bottom line: Toyota feels that the market will pay more for it, so they price it accordingly.

Q: How can I improve the trunk springs on my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
The trunk lid on my 2007 Camry Hybrid won’t stay up when opened while the car is parked facing uphill. This is a real problem where I live when unloading groceries, etc. Does anyone know how to make the springs stronger?

A: There should be replaceable hydraulic cylinders on either side, they snap in and out. Go to the auto parts store and tell them what they are for.

Q: Toyota Camry Hybrid or Toyota Corolla; Which gets better acceleration?
I’m just curious how the Camry Hybrid compared to the Toyota Corolla in acceleration and pick up. I heard the Camry Hybrid has less acceleration that a gas Camry, but I’m interested in how it compared to the Toyota Corolla.

A: These are based on 09 models..

4 cylinder Camry goes 0-60mph in 8.8 seconds
6 cylinder Camry goes 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds
Hybrid Camry goes 0-60 in 9.5 seconds

The Corolla does 0-60 in 8.9 seconds

Q: what should my decision making process be (steps) when buying the toyota camry hybrid? Why are these essential?
I am car illiterate and I want to buy this camry hybrid. What should my decision making process be so that I don’t rush this? Why are these essential to have?

A: Go to cars.com .Look for all the dealers around you and send them all emails that you are interested to buy this toyota camry hybrid. Let them know the color, interior, auto or stick shift and everything you wanted for a car and ask them to email you back the “out the door” final price. And from there you should have gone to your Credit Union for a loan.

Q: Will the Toyota Camry Hybrid be overnight plug-in within a few model years?
If Toyota added some batteries, the Camry Hybrid could drive 25-40 miles per day without even running the engine, and would just be plugged in at home overnight to recharge. Anyone heard if Toyota is pursuing this/

A: no

Q: How much tax credit does a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2007 qualify for 2006?
(Toyota Camry Hybrid 2007 will be available in May 2006.)

A: If you get one of the first 3000-6000 (I’m not sure) hybrids from Toyota, you get up to $3000 tax credit.

Q: What kind of gas mileage are you really getting on your Toyota Camry Hybrid?
I know Toyota is publishing 40 mpg but that’s using the notoriously inaccurate EPA method. Anyone actually measure it themselves?

A: According to the GreenHybrid.com Mileage Database, the Camry Hybrid is getting, on average, about 37 mpg, in a sample of 118 cars.

Not exactly what Toyota published, but certainly not bad for a midsize sedan, either.

Q: The Difference between a The Toyota Camry hybrid and the Camry sedan?
Both of the cars look exactly alike, can someone help me tell the difference.

A: I’m assuming that you’re asking about cosmetic differences that you can see from the outside.

First are the hybrid badges on the rear and side of the car. The hybrid also has LED taillights (not any any other model until 2010 model where they are standard) and the lenses are different colored, all white on the portion that is on the truck lid. There is a relatively large protuberance on the rear deck lid which is a vent to cool the hybrid batteries. The grill is fully chrome with shiny chrome in the center section matte chrome colored rather than color-keyed or black in the other trim levels. The headlights are also tinted light blue in the area surounding the lenses.

Hope this helps.

Ken

Q: Would a Toyota Camry Hybrid’s grille fit into a LE?
Hi, I have a 2009 Toyota Camry LE model. I was wondering if the Hybrid’s chrome grille would fit into my LE camry. If so, where could i find it or what’s the estimated price?

Thanks so much!

A: Yes.
