Q: toyota corolla?
I am looking for a reliable compact car. I am planning on getting a Toyota Corolla or Honda civic- probably some 3-4 yrs old used car. (hoping to spend ~10k) I saw a 2005 Toyota Corolla LE, Auto, for $9800. I am not sure about the features that it has (planning on having a look & test drive soon). What’s your say on
(1) Toyota corolla, in general, as a reliable, fuel-efficient car
(2) this particular deal for 2005 model

i bought this 84 corolla for $2500 cnd but when turn the steering wheel to the most right or left,there is some noises come from front wheels ,i mean lots of noises from front wheels,wierd noises.what should i do?

A: What kind of weird noises?

Is it a kind of grinding sound as the wheels are turning left or right? Power steering. I had a leak and was without for a while, used Valvoline power steering fluid with seal conditioners, and voila, problem gone. Could be a lot of things, though, your mileage may vary.

edit: If it’s power steering (if your car even HAS power steering), get it fixed. The car is light enough to drive without it, but I seem to recall reading when I had my problem that the 84 Corolla (FWD, right? If it’s a RWD model you got a hell of a deal, BTW) is such that you shouldn’t drive the PS models without PS working, it’ll damage the steering system. I’m guessing it has to do with more force being required higher up in the steering system.

Is it a clunking sound that is worse the farther left or right you turn the wheel, and which you mainly hear while you are going through a turn under power? In that case, CV joints. Replace the whole axle (might as well do both). Do it yourself, it isn’t hard. (You’ll want to have the right torque specs and a decent torque wrench, though)

Other things it could be: Bearings, tires (hey, it’s possible), something could be scraping against your tire that doesn’t when the wheels are pointed straight…

Without knowing what it sounds like, there’s no way to be sure.

Q: Does buying a 2008 Toyota Corolla from a used car dealer still hold the manufacturers warranty?
I am considering buying a 2008 toyota corolla with 15000 miles from a used car dealership. I was wondering if the manufacturers warranty still applies for this car. Toyota give a basic warranty of 3 years/36000 miles and 5 years 60,000 miles.

A: Maybe, I had bought a few Hyundai’s years ago with less than 60k, which was their then warranty and had work done for free.

Another dealer I knew bought a kia with 28,000 miles and a knocking motor and they told him it was mistreated and therefore not covered. (Apparently they never changed the oil)

Similarly, major body damage CAN void warranty’s if its not done at the dealer.

Call the service manager and ask. Drive it by and let him look at it.

I would think the dealer who has it would be touting the fact that its under factory warranty if it indeed is.

But, them touting it doesnt make it so. They sell it AS IS to you. The factory warranty is between you and the factory so satisfy yourself and dont rely on anything the seller tells you. Verbal promises or representations are worthless.

A: For every car manufacturers recomendations are every 3 months or 3 thousand miles! This will help on gas milage and to keep your engine running to its full potential. if you do not change the oli or check it then you can blow your motor,

that is for any car. BTW I drive a Chevy Malibu LS. corollas are great!!!! But I love my chevy!!!!!

A: The differences are significant. The Corolla S is basically a Corolla CE/LE with a Sport Appearance Package. Add ground effects and sportier trim to a CE or LE Corolla and you have the Corolla S. Everything mechanical ( suspension, engine, transmission,brakes, etc.) and even the wheels are the same as the CE /LE Corolla. It just looks sporty. Not to play it down because it still looks good and is extremely reliable. However, the XRS adds to the S a more powerful engine, bigger brakes with rear wheel disc brakes instead of drum brakes, a sportier suspension, bigger tires and wheels, and a few other goodies to enhance its performance and comfort. You also get a 6 speed manual on the XRS and an automatic isn’t available. The S uses either an automatic or a 5 speed manual transmission like other Corollas. Your Corolla has about 130 hp; the XRS puts out 170 hp. If you have the ‘09 Corolla, the S is basically equipped the same as the ‘08 and the engine is basically the same. The XRS now uses the 4 cylinder Camry’s bigger engine with 30-35 more horsepower and you can now get an automatic transmission on the XRS.

A: Toyota is known to be a highly superior car over American made cars. It generally lasts longer, depreciates less over time, requires less maintenance, and has better gas mileage.

Fords have gotten better over the years, but I think Toyota is still known to be supreme.

A: Should be less than $300 including install. Some places will come out and do it in your driveway. It depends on how common the car is and how fancy the glass. Common cars are cheaper.

toyotas are excellent cars, I wouldn’t go for an extended warranty from the beginning, you will be able to extend it later if the car will have problems, anyway if you want an idea of a standard prices go get some quick quotes from http://www.extendautowarranty.info/ and compare them with what the dealer tries to sell you

Just wondering a price, found an 2004 Toyota Corolla S for around $9k, but I’m going to negotiate. It has around 88 miles. The only down side is I want a manual and its an automatic, but its the cheapest I can find for a Corolla S model in my area (DFW 75248). Any idea on ballpark price ranges for transmission conversions?

A: Assuming you are using a used transmission…$1500 for the transmission, $2000 for new computer, $1500 for a new wiring harness, $2000 in labor…

You are WAY better off getting a manual from the factory.

I was wondering if my stereo had this jack so I would be able to connect a cable to my mp3 player. I would have to drill a hole to get the cable through, but I’m willing to try. A: NO there is no rca jacks but there is a 12 pin plug for a cd changer ,there you can plug the auxiliary audio interface you press the cd button twice to hear the external audio source

I replaced the battery on my remote keyless entry on my 2000 Toyota Corolla.

A: this is for toyota corolla 2003.i dont nou this instruction work on yuor car or nou.Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).

Perform these steps within 5 seconds
Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out

Close, then open the drivers door.

Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6a and 6b as the remote was not accepted.
